Jenny was born in Taiwan and grew up in Los Angeles. She received a BA in Japanese literature from Columbia University and a MDes in Design Planning from the Institute of Design in Chicago, and has worked as a management consultant, product designer, translator, university lecturer, innovation consultant, human-centered researcher, and writer, picking up a patent and three languages along the way.

Thoughts that meander through Jenny’s head: story ideas inspired by weird news, how to travel more, the infuriating prevalence of patriarchy, ways to improve whatever experience she is having at that moment, the odd calm that Japanese reality television can bring, the joys and grotesqueries of motherhood, how to eat more chocolate for breakfast.

She currently lives in San Francisco, where she is working on a novel set in Fukushima, Japan.
